The show will feature some of the hits from Stocktons Wing, songs from Mike’s solo recordings and some exciting new collaborations from two very talented and creative artists.

This venture began a few years ago when Mike was guest singer with The Kilfenora Céilí band as they celebrated their 100 year anniversary. Sharon on cello featured on all of the songs Mike performed. The opportunity to perform again was not to be missed and both are very excited about this new music venture. It is a fusion of ages, ideas and creative energies.

Mike Hanrahan

Mike Hanrahan’s career began in Ennis in the late 70’s with Singer Maura O Connell in a group called Tumbleweed. From there he joined Stocktons Wing and created the hit songs Beautiful Affair, Walkaway, Take a Chance and many more. His solo career produced two Cd’s and songs such as We Had it all and Garden of Roses, a haunting tribute to victims of abuse. He has toured and written for Ronnie Drew, Eleanor Shanley, Finbar Furey and Leslie Dowdall. In 2016 he wrote the critically acclaimed tribute for the Easter Rising Centenary, Dublin Burning, with Brendan Begley.

Sharon Howley

Sharon Howley is a multi-instrumentalist from Kilfenora Co. Clare. Having started playing a variety of instruments Sharon turned to the cello at the early age of 10 and quickly went through the grades. She performs with The Kilfenora Céilí band and has recently started to arrange music for the band.

In 2016 Sharon arranged Michael Jackson’s Smooth criminal for the Kilfenora and the video went viral. She is the first ever full time cellist in a céilí band. With two Masters degrees in music, Sharon tutors, writes and arranges music for a number of organisations and projects, and has appeared on many albums for a wide variety of artists. Sharon hopes to record her debut album, a CD of Irish traditional music on cello in the coming months.
